The Story of Us

How We Met & Fell In Love

(Pam's View)

On August 2 (2008) I had been out late with a friend to a book release party. The next night, a mutual friend of ours was having a party that I did not want to go to... I wanted to stay home and read my new book! However, after much conversation, I agreed to go.

Prior to the party starting, a few of us showed up to help put things together. Adam, living 3 doors away, was already there. When I saw him, my eyes followed him. Then I got up, walked over to him, and looked up (and up and up). "Who are you?" I asked. I was immediately interested.

Throughout the night we talked, laughed and drank. Two weeks later I summoned the courage to ask him out.

Three weeks after meeting we had our first date. The following morning we met for a breakfast date, and later that night to enjoy the Halifax Ghost Walk (when I introduced him to my dear friend, Maren). I knew then, within 24 hours, that he was the one for me.

Pam covered the where and when...from my perspective, I was at the same party, but not consciously looking for anyone. I remember meeting Pam, and liking her. More-so I remember the night soon after when the same group ended up at the pool in my building, and a bunch of us ended up in the hot-tub, Pam on my right. We squeezed a lot of people in, so I had my arm around Pam that night for the first time, but still oblivious to the whole thing. Several times in the next weeks I was invited over to hang out with the girls, in the pool, watching a movie, etc. Pam and I were fast friends.

The night she asked me out was funny. Pam and one of her friends had been out drinking, and came over to my door to invite me to hang out. We were flirting, talking. I kissed her hand (because she was, and remains still, a princess), and sat next to her most of the night. I went home that night (just down the hallway), and a few minutes later there was a knock at my door. I thought I must have forgotten something, quickly put my pants back on, and answered the door. Pam was there, and very directly asked me out. I initially hemmed and hawed, having been in the midst of other personal stuff at the time, but thankfully Pam wouldn't take no for an answer.

A week passed, where we exchanged constant messages over Facebook, getting to know one another, revealing a surprising amount of information, and quickly falling for one another. By the time we had our (admittedly nervous) first date, the sparks were clear to both of us. I love you Pam!

The Wedding

We were married on the 2nd anniversary of our first date. The wedding was beautiful and a perfect representation of us. The ceremony was outside on a beautiful August afternoon. Followed by snack and a dance in the evening. It was wonderful.

And They Lived . . .

We now live in a wonderful apartment with 2 beautiful cats and eagerly await our family to grow!
